Hiking Diaries - July 13th & 14th 2018
Fri, July 13th, 2018 - Worked a full day. Tara meets me at the farm. Go to my apartment, Meet up with Kristabel. Pack, eat quickly. Drive to the Whites. Lafayette Campground - no campsites. Night hike! So nice out - energized. Fishing Jimmy Trail (pass by Lonesome Lake). Wanted to keep hiking, Kristabel wanted to stop - eventually found a flat-ish spot next to the trail. Set up camp. Bed.
Sat, July 14th, 2018 - Up early-ish. Ate, packed up, Tara french braided my hair. Hiked to Kinsman Pond Shelter - rough uptrail. FINALLLY make it to the shelter. The caretaker thinks I look familiar - Its a recent coworker!- she quit a few months ago. Sit and chat and talk about being a caretaker. Use the privy. Set up our tent and get rid of our non-essentials and slack pack. Cannon Balls - fogged out. Rough hikes. Up to Cannon Mtn (#13) - super fogged out, no views. Cafe at Cannon Mtn. Highest Taps in NH. Got french fries. Yum yum yum. REALLY bad weather - cold, raining, windy, gross. Desperately wanted to take the sky-lift down and hitch-hike to our car. But all of our gear was at Kinsman Pond Shelter, so we had no choice. Played the Category/Letter game.
