NH - Georgiana and Harvard Falls & Osceola (#14)

Oct 13th & 14th, 2018

Sat, Oct 13th - Up around 7am, cleaned my room, packed for the weekend hiking/camping trip. Tara picks me up around 1030am. She says Hi to Carmella, and then drives us up to NH. Rain rain rain. Decided to hike the Georgiana and Harvard Falls Trail. Bundled up. BEAUTIFUL HIKE! So many amazing waterfalls. Easy easy hike - 2 miles up. The most stunning view otfthe leaves/highway and waterfall. Took some photos. Ate some food. Then it got foggy and cold and rainy. Quick hike back down. Drove to the KOA - got a campsite, set up our tent. Went to One Love Brewery, got a beer and some pretzels/salad - DID NOT FEEL WELL. UGHHH. Didn’t even drink my beer. Planned for our Sunday hike. Back to the campground, bought some firewood. Made a fire, talked talked talked. Got in bed (super warm, tons of blankets), played Fill or Bust, read a ghost story. Sleep! Bad sleep - woke up so many times.

Sun, Oct 14th - Up really early - was cold out. Packed up, got Dunkin Donuts, drove to the Mt Osceola Trailhead - we got a prime parking spot. A handful of hikers started to arrive, so we were hiking amongst others and periodically saw them on the way up. A moderate, extremely rewarding hike to Mt Osceola. The slope is constant, but not too difficult. Lots of rocks and ice - some technical parts. Snow! The top had the most amazing view. Cute squirrel/chipmunks trying to get crumbs from people. Lots of people at the top. Decided not to hike to East Osceola, because we wanted to get home early, Tara had work that night, and the peak didn’t have a view. But I kind of wanted to hike it, since its a 4000-footer and now i need to rehike Osceola to get to Easy Osceola - but its fine. Ate a delicious breakfast sandwich and glazed donut at the top. Was cold, so turned around and hiked back down - wanted the hike to be over, but it was an easy hike back. Very satisfying. Was very crowded in the parking lot as we left. Stopped by the NH main rest-stop on the way home, got soup, sweet potato fries, and a grilled cheese (YUM!). Tara dropped me off at my apartment, came in to say hi to Carmella. I bought Taras gore-tex orange rain jacket for $60. I watched Gilmore Girls and had a bad headache.
