Woke up in the night, was super nervous. Got up early-ish, drove my car to “The Basin” parking lot, began our hike. I overpacked my pack, of course. Couldn’t eat anything. Flume Slide Trail - were walking around a group of 4 older men for a while. Dislodged a rock on the steep part, it was very bouncy and def could’ve hit people in the face. Really difficult climb, lots of people passing us. Aches and pains. Eventually made it to the top, got to Mt Flume (15/48), was really beautiful. Left Mt. Flume very quickly. Couldn’t find Lady Unicorn, made friends with two women hiking - they gave me a piece of paper, I left LU a note pinned to a tree, and we kept hiking together. Found LU 3 minutes later lol. Found out the girls (Kari and Tara) are from Somerville - I want to be their friend.
Moderate climb up to Mt. Liberty (16/48), talked to Kari and Tara - gave them my phone number and asked to be their friend. Two other girls overheard and also wanted to be our friends - Yay the Ladies of Liberty! LU and I left quickly to finish our hike. Easy hiking up to Little Haystack - stomach hurt A LOT. Walked with a thru-hiker named “Beast” for a while. Reached Mt. Lincoln and Mt. Lafayette. Had an absolute meltdown about my stomach issues and anxieties. Cried and had a mini panic attack about life in general. Wanted to get off the mountain. Knee started to hurt. Fog and cold crept in. Walked down the ______ trail to Greenleaf Hut - people wouldn’t let me go ahead of them!!!. So good to sit. Ate some sour patch kids and lemonade. Signed the log book. Just sat there for a while (other people sitting with their heads on the table). Did NOT want to keep hiking. Kept hiking. Easy easy easy as we hiked down to the campground. Drove to The Basin, picked up my car, drove back. LU showered, I read A Walk In The Woods. She made rice and veggies for dinner.
